Multicultural Voting
To demonstrate authentic efforts to promote multiculturalism in the electoral process, the VEC piloted an initiative to reduce high voting informality rates among multicultural communities in Victoria.
The VEC aimed to overcome language barriers by providing in-language video instructions accessible via a prominent QR code on posters displayed on voting screens and queueing infrastructure.
The posters featured a prominent QR code, with English instructions and images at the top, and short in-language videos on how to complete the ballot papers correctly were accessible via the QR code.
My role was to oversee the research, consultation, concepts, and production of this project, ensuring that the initiative to reduce high voting informality rates among multicultural communities in Victoria was well-researched, feasible, and effectively implemented, to promote multiculturalism in the electoral process.
